Athena Software sales and finance administrator Lisa Turner took a long walk for a good cause this fall. [September 17, 2011]

On September 10 and 11, Lisa took part in the annual Walk to End Women's Cancers, benefitting the Campbell Family Institute at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Over the course of two days, Lisa walked a total of 60 kilometres (37.3 miles) through Toronto neighbourhoods, staying overnight with other walkers in a temporary campground set up in Toronto's Downsview Park.

"My commitment is based on love and my realization that we each need to do our part in this fight," said Lisa. "I can walk. I can raise funds to benefit the Campbell Family Institute at The Princess Margaret, a leader in the fight against all women's cancers. I can and choose to be a part of this movement to save lives."

Beginning in 2003, the annual walk has raised over $100 million for research, treatment and prevention programs to help fight breast and gynecologic cancers at Princess Margaret Hospital -- cancers which affect one in seven Canadian women during their lifetime. This year's walk raised over $9 million.

Lisa personally raised $2,000, helping make a significant contribution to this extremely worthy cause. Athena Software was proud to sponsor Lisa in this amazing walk for life!
