Outcomes-based evaluation using client self-rating surveys through the stages of service (pre - mid - post) is one proxy approach to answering the question, "how do you know that what you do does any good?". Penelope Case Management (CMS) / Counseling Software features a custom outcomes evaluation component that allows any number of surveys to be easily incorporated into both penelope and athena by the system administrator at the agency. Surveys (eg. client satisfaction, self-reported ratings, depression index etc.) can be easily accessed and applied to individuals at the pre- mid- and/or post-service stages depending on the nature of the survey. Individual and/or aggregate outcomes can easily be accessed to give a picture of client-expressed ratings during the stages of service and their degree of change over time. Reports and pivot tables allow evaluation results to be broken out by any period and by any category in the system (eg. gender, age, program, funder/ payer, user-defined fields, worker etc.).
